$25.00

Location: Stoneco Lime City Quarry, Lime City, Wood County, Ohio, USA

Size: 386 x 2.95 x 2.50 inches

This location is closed and flooded as of 2010 so pieces from this location are getting harder to get. I only happened to have this one as it was in a box of pieces I collected with my dad back in the 1990’s and was tucked away in his basement.

Celestite or Celestine is a mineral consisting of strontium sulfate. The mineral is named for its light sky blue color. Celestine and the carbonate mineral strontianite are the principal sources of the element strontium, commonly used in fireworks and in various metal alloys.

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and is the principal constituent of limestone and marble. It occurs in many shapes, sizes and colors making it a staple of many mineral collections.  In fact there are many collectors that only collect calcites.
