Sometimes also called Cobaltoan Calcite. Most of the pieces are actually Dolomite and sometimes it is just called Salrose (pink stuff) as there are pieces that are hard to identify. These are always showy and add a lot of color to a collection that is not dyed and does not break the bank.

Cobaltoan Dolomite is a Cobalt bearing Dolomite. A large number of Cobaltoan Calcite specimens are actually Dolomite.

Dolomite is an anhydrous carbonate mineral composed of calcium magnesium carbonate and is often white, grey, pink, tan and colorless. The term dolomite is also often used for a sedimentary carbonate rock composed mostly of the mineral dolomite. Dolomite is used as a source of magnesia (a feed additive for livestock), an ingredient in the production of glass, bricks, and ceramics as well as a flux in metal processing.
