Who said all garnets are red. Most people are not even aware of this green variety of Garnet. While the crystals are almost always small the pieces always are showy. I was fortunate to be able to pick up a lot of these highly prized garnets at a good price and am passing the savings to you.
Garnet is a group of silicate minerals that have been used for gemstones and abrasives as far back as the Bronze Age. Garnets are found in every color with the reddish shade the most common.
Uvarovite is a member of the garnet species that contains calcium chromium and is a fairly rare garnet that is bright emerald green in color. It almost always forms as small crystals and most of what you see is from the Ural Mountains of Russia.
