Proetus Trilobite - Morocco
Proetus Trilobite - Morocco
Location: Sahara Desert, Morocco
While this species is not that large the detail on this piece is really nice with minimal repair unlike a lot of Moroccan pieces.
Trilobites meaning "three lobes" are a group of extinct marine arthropods.. Trilobites form one of the earliest-known groups of arthropods. Trilobites were among the most successful of all early animals, existing in oceans.
By the time trilobites first appeared in the fossil record, they were already highly diversified and geographically dispersed. Because trilobites had wide diversity and an easily fossilized exoskeleton, they left an extensive fossil record.
Age: Devonian
1.55 x 1.3 x 0.95 inches Trilobite is 0.77 inches.
