These fossil ammonites are starting to be replaced by pyrite. This one is one of the largest from this location and could be cut and polished.
Ammonites were predatory mollusks that resembled squid and are among the most abundant fossils found. They grew by adding chambers to their shell in a circular direction. This example you can clearly see the chambers that have been replaced by Calcite. It is hard to believe that you get both haves of this nice example for a price this low. I was able to buy a huge quantity that kept my price down and I am passing the savings along to you.
