Earth’s Hidden Treasures® is a mineral, fossil and meteorite business that began in 1994, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. It grew out of a passion to collect rocks, minerals and fossils - ‘hidden treasures’ - that nature has produced in an amazing array of formations, colors, shapes and sizes. When we moved to Illinois in 2002, our business came with us. We continuously seek out the most reasonably priced, quality specimens for our customers. We have over 1,000 specimens at each of the two antique malls (East State Antique Mall in Rockford & Volo Antique Mall in Volo) in northern Illinois. We participate annually as vendors in several Rock and Gem shows in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, and now offer our quality specimens for sale online. We have over 100,000 specimens, most priced under $50.

This is one of the nicer specimens that I have of Pyrolusite that has some nice cavities that protect the crystals and is very showy.

Pyrolusite is an oxide mineral consisting of manganese dioxide (MnO2) and is important as an ore of manganese. It was used in cave paintings and used to make fires. Currently it is used in making various alloys and as an oxidization agent.
