It is not common to see fluorite as balls in matrix but on this piece you have two on a bed of quartz crystals. Two of the sides have been cut to keep the matrix in proportion to the fluorite balls. This is a piece that I found tucked away from our move a few years ago and that I am selling at a fantastic price.
Fluorite (also called fluorspar) belongs to the halide minerals and is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, CaF2. It has a hardness of 4 and in its pure form it is colorless and transparent.
